Abdominal ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging test that allows for cross-sectional imaging of internal organs. Indications can include laboratory abnormalities, clinical signs, or abnormal physical examination findings. Ultrasound is a low-risk modality, and ultrasound procedures do not require general anesthesia or the use of radiation.
We perform our ultrasounds at your clinic using our own ultrasound device. A range of service levels are available, from lower-cost basic ultrasound, semi-urgent ultrasounds and ultrasounds with full internal medicine consultation and reports.
Standard evaluation includes full imaging of the genitourinary system (kidneys, ureters, bladder, prostate, reproductive structures), hepatobiliary system (liver, gallbladder, biliary tree pancreas), gastrointestinal system (stomach, small intestine, colon), and endocrine and lymphoid structures such as the adrenal glands, spleen, and abdominal lymph nodes. We can also perform targeted ultrasound evaluation of selected abdominal structures.
Endoscopy is used to investigate clinical signs of oesophageal, gastric and small intestine disease, investigate upper GI tract abnormalities found on imaging, and collect biopsy samples. It also used to retrieve foreign objects from the oesophageal and gastric regions as well as the nose, sinus cavities and throat.
Patients undergoing gastrointestinal endoscopy are routinely placed under general anesthesia. Patients are fasted and undergo other types of preparation prior to the procedure.
We use our own endoscopy equipment and conduct the procedure in your clinic. We can recommend labs for the samples or you are free to use your usual lab.
We offer detailed internal medicine reports and consulting services for any patients undergoing ultrasound or endoscopy to help guide further steps. Ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration is also available as necessary. Please feel free to inquire about other internal medicine services and procedures.
